Volero Zurich assistant coach Jan Lindenmair:
Zurich, Switzerland, May 7, 2014- “It wasn’t an easy game for us. We had a long break of over four weeks without any game. We knew it would be an important opening game for us, as we wanted to get our confidence back for this tournament. I think we are physically ready for this big event. We have to prepare now for the next game against the Petroliers. As we don’t know them really well, it will be a big challenge for our team.”
Volero Zurich captain Mira Golubovic:
“We started really well, but couldn’t adapt to their changes in the formation afterwards in the third and fourth set. As consequence, we started struggling. However, I told my teammates to fight for this important victory and as we started to believe in ourselves in the fifth set, we found back to our game. I think our supporters here were a very big factor for our win.”
Sesi-SP coach Talmo Curto De Oliveira:
“We played really bad in the first two sets. I think the nervosity of the whole team was the reason why. However, I think it’s normal as it’s the first time for our club to participate at such an important tournament. We have to stay focused now and to prepare well for the next game against Petroliers. We have to analize our game and see where the errors were in our game.”
Sesi-SP captain Fabiana Claudino:
“We couldn’t play our game and committed to many unforced errors. I think we fought with the own nervosity at the very beginning. Nevertheless, we have to receive better and reduce our own errors if we want to win against the Algerians. As a one of the more experienced player, I have to help out my teammates and calm them down if needed. We know we can play better.”
