Coaches expect a tough competition in Women's Club World championship

Zurich, Switzerland, May 6, 2014- The coaches of the six teams participating at 2014 FIVB Women's Club World Championship due to start in Zurich, Switzerland on Wednesday are expecting a tough competition for the 8th edition and showed how difficult will be their mission towards the crown.

The six coaches attending the press conference held at Saalsporthalle emphasize the quality of high volleyball standard they are facing in the competition with the most prominent teams all over the world attending.

The eighth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship is set to start on Wednesday gathering six of the world’s best club teams. They will play two matches a day in the two competition pools in the preliminary round and the top two will proceed to the semifinal.

Here is the summary of coaches' quotes on the eve of the first day of action.

 G. S. Pétroliers coach Salim Achouri:

“We want to take game after game and improve. The other teams play on a high level and can take advantage of their experience. However, we shouldn’t be afraid to play our game with confidence. I told my players that they shouldn't be afraid and they have to entertain the games. I have no Idea about the opponent teams but fortunately we will be in a rest during the first day and we can follow the teams of our pool on that day.”

Sesi-SP coach Talmo Curto De Oliveira:

“It’s an honour for us to play here. Even more, after considering that our team is only three years old. There will be different schools and types of volleyball played by the teams. We have to adapt fast if we want to reach our goal, the podium. I will put my confidence on the stars of the team specially Fabiana and the setter Lins Danielle”

Volero Zurich coach Dragutin Baltic:

“It was a tough season for us, but we are looking forward to this competition, as we get the possibility to show our real value by facing these strong teams. We want a place on the podium this year.”

Dinamo Kazan coach Rishat Gilyazutdinov:

“It’s the first time for our team to compete at a FIVB Club World Championship. We’ve already stayed two times in Zurich facing Volero Zurich during the CEV DenizBank Champions League. I think we are physically ready for this experience. The games will be very interesting as there are a lot of different playing styles.”

Molico Osasco coach Luizomar de Moura:

“I think we are drawn in a very hard pool with different kinds of play. I think a good equilibrium between offensive and defensive game will make the difference in this strong competition. It’s a big opportunity to crown a good season to an excellent one. Even though we lost the South American Cup Final and couldn’t reach the Brazilian Superfinal, there’s no pressure on our team.”

Hisamitsu Springs coach Kumi Nakada:

“We have to get used to the conditions here. We played in Thailand at 40° degree only one week ago. The climate here is quite the opposite of back then in Nakhon Pathom. This competition is an interesting chance for Japanese volleyball. Even though we are less experienced than other teams, we want to do our best against these strong teams.”
