Team profile

African champions G.S.Petroliers (GSP) of Algeria were allocated the second of two wild cards for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Zurich 2014. GSP claimed the African club title in 2014 after beating last year’s FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship participants Kenya Prisons in the final.

It is the first time Algeria is represented at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship. GSP boast many Algerian internationals in their side, including libero Salima Hammouche, Aicha Mezemate, Zohra Bensalem, former national team skipper Fatima Zahra Oukazi and star spiker Safia Boukhima, who participated in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix. Team captain Fatima Zahra Oukazi was voted best African player of the African Club Championship.

G.S.Petroliers, formerly known as MC Alger, are the most titled club in Algeria. They have won both the national league and the Algerian Cup 23 times.
