Simón's scoring skills are "not normal", says Trentino captain

For Trentino's Emanuele Birarelli, Simón is the world's best at his role nowadays

Emanuele Birarelli, Trentino captain: "It was a tough match for us. Our team has now a bit less of confidence. They (Al-Rayyan) have some of the best players in the world. (Robertlandy) Simón is currently the best middle-blocker of all. He made 17 points out of 25 spikes. That's not normal in a three-setter. We will improve; we must do it, so we'll try our best. We have to win against UPCN now."

Ali Bairami, Al-Rayyan captain: "It's a great pleasure to win the first game, especially against one of the best teams in the world. I think it's going to be a very good result for us on what's next, to have this boost. We have a great chance to make it into the next round."

Roberto Serniotti, Trentino coach: "It was a match with three very similar sets. On every one we started well, but in the final part we made more mistakes. We gave Al-Rayyan the chance to return to the game, and they always played better at the final part. We weren't distant to them, but we need to close the sets. I'm sure we will play better on next matches."

Igor Arbutina, Al-Rayyan coach: "I must agree with my colleagues from Trentino; it was a very tough match. I think it was an interesting one for the viewers. Every set was decided in the final points, maybe we had players with a bit more experience to close them. It was very important to finish such a hard game in just three sets. I hope we can keep improving game after game."
