Sada Cruizeiro are
a pillar of Brazilian volleyball and have been preparing intensely for the
2013-14 season, having won the Superliga (Brazilian national championship) in
2012 and finished as runners-up in the seasons either side of that.
They were also runners-up in the World Championship last year and as hosts this
year, Sada Cruzeiro have great expectations for the 2013 Club World
Championship and can expect strong support from the local fans.
On court, three players who gained individual awards at the previous
Championship are still around to lead the team: Serginho (Best Libero and Best
Receiver), Wallace (Best Server) and William (Best Setter). Teammates Douglas
Cordeiro, Filipe and Leal are also still around, in addition to coach Marcelo
The squad has been strengthened with the addition of middle blocker Isac,
Venezuelan outside hitter Luis Diaz and middle hitter Eder. Setter Vinhedo also
brings some experience as he played in the World Championship with runners-up
Jastrzebski Wegiel of Poland in 2011.
