Match Descriptive

Japan beat France 3-1 (25-15, 26-24, 22-25, 25-21) - duration 1:49
23-May, start time: 20:07, end time: 21:56 - Attendance: 4,197
Big surprise on Friday evening at Nantes where the Japanese team won its first match against the French team.
In the sports Palace in Nantes , where the World League was already held in 1999 , nearly
5000 spectators watched the vain game of " touch-and-go " the French behind the Japanese
who began the match by winning two sets in a row.
Nervous in serve - reception, against the very daring Japanese team , the French submitted to
Japanese domination as shown by the first fatal episode when Hosokawa stepped up to
serve and scored 8-0 for his team ( from 9-12 to 9-20 ) and the helping hand from Yamamoto and Ito at the net.
In the second game , after changing setters ( Lemarrec for Patin ), the French missed the train
by wasting a match ball ( 24-23 ) after being led severely( 17-20) , and finally failing (24-26).
The entrance in play of the young Andy Ces as the french outside hitter ( 18-18 ) in the third
game brougth some punch into the Philippe Blain's team.
Without resolving the serve / receive problems . The quality of the serves and the efficency
of the defense , finally propulse Japan to a surprising victory .
