Standing at 187cms, Chu is currently the best libero in China and is likely to prove he is one of the best in the world when the men’s 2003 World Cup starts on November 16. The 22-year-old Chu has a motto: never let the ball touch the ground.

Since joining the Chinese national side in 2001, he has not missed any major competition that China took part in.

“It is my responsibility to dig the ball,” Chu said. “I like my job.”

Chu started to play Volleyball when he was in middle school.  He joined the Liaoning club in 1999 and it was long after when he had sealed a starting spot.

After Di Anhe took the helm of the Chinese team in 2001, he summoned Chu to the national side and since then Chu has not let his coach down.
