Press release

"We've got experience and this will help us" says Brazilian coach Rezende looking forward to 1/4 finals

Quite many Brazilian fans were in attendance on Monday night as the guys captained by Giba cruised to a 3-0 win over Germany to round out their campaign in the prelims of the Olympic tournament

London, Great Britain, August 6, 2012 – Germany’s captain Björn Andrae commented after the straight-set defeat of his side to the triple world champions of Brazil: “It was a good game. We tried to change things but we played to win. We made mistakes. It was a good opportunity for some of the other guys to take the chance. Our goal was to enter the quarterfinals. We played very well against Serbia and Tunisia. In this tournament, it’s been enough to make it to the knockout stage". As for the next match with Bulgaria he said: “We saw them today against Italy. Both teams know each other as we’ve played about seven times this year. The key will be to play our game and put pressure on them”.
Head coach Vital Heynen added: “I was pleased for two sets. We changed formation a bit. I like to make it difficult for my team by changing formations and different positions. I think we were unlucky today. We have played Bulgaria seven times this summer so we know this team very well. We became friends and now the friends will play each other”.

“We are going to face a lot of difficulties but we reached the knockout round and we want to win. The spirit of my team is very good. We’ve got experience, athletes who have already been champions and this will help us, giving us confidence for the rest of the competiton. Our group suffered some crises, but we managed to be strong. The idea is to create conciousness and we know how to do it” stressed Brazil coach Bernardo Rezende.
