"We feel confident when we lead and we played easy today" says Germany's middle blocker Marcus Böhme

Ukrainian-born Denys Kaliberda was Germany's top scorer in their 3-0 win over Tunisia on Saturday at Earls Court

London, Great Britain, August 4, 2012 – Marcus Popp was Germany’s second best scorer in the match with Tunisia as he registered 11 points along the way to a 3-0 win. “We played very well today to win our second match. We concentrated right from the start and had better serves and blocking. Now we have the possibility to go through to the next stage. I am very happy today” he said after the game. As for their next and last preliminary match with Brazil, he stressed: “We will use the positive energy stemming from this win and work out a good strategy. If that happens, we can win a set or maybe the whole match”.
“It is not a must win” stressed teammate Marcus Böhme about the game with Brazil. “We did not win that often against them in the past. Today we played easy and felt confident”.

“We played much better than in the other games. We tried to do something, at least” singled out Tunisia’s best scorer Hamza Nagga. “It was the first time that this group qualified for the Games, so it’s just the pleasure of playing this kind of competitions. We need to play more matches like the ones at the Olympic Games. We need to play against the big competitors like Germany. We need more international experience because we are a small country. We need to play more to improve our quality”.
