First-time participants Serbia made an impressive de-
but by winning the 2009 FIVB Boys’ Youth Champion-
ship with a 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 17-25, 25-20, 15-11 )
victory over Iran at the Palazzo del Turismo in Jesolo,
Italy, in September.
Dusan Petkovic, who replaced injured star Uros Ko-
vacevic halfway through the second set, scored the
final point for Serbia and finished with 11 important
points. Aleksandar Atanasijevic, selected as the Most
Valuable Player, paced the Serbian offence with 24
points while Vuk Milutinovic finished with 15, includ-
ing four blocks.
