For the second straight year Antonelli stood atop the
Otera Open podium with a Brazilian partner as she
and Talita captured the women’s gold medal at the
US$ 380,000 SWATCH FIVB World Tour event in the
southern Norwegian resort city.
The second-seeded Antonelli and Talita denied the
eighth-seeded Schwaiger sisters (Doris and Stefanie)
in the first-ever SWATCH FIVB World Tour title ap-
pearance by an Austrian women’s or men’s team. An-
tonelli had captured the 2008 Otera Open title with
Leão, who placed fifth in 2009 with Renata.
The ninth all-European finale in the 23-year history
of the SWATCH FIVB World Tour was won by Dmitri
Barsouk and Igor Kolodinsky of Russia. Seeded third,
Barsouk and Kolodinsky enjoyed a semi-final win
over the 12th-seeded Ces brothers (Andy and Kevin)
of France before earning the top podium spot with a
21-13, 21-16 victory in 38 minutes over Aleksandrs
Samoilovs and Ruslans Sorokins of Latvia.
