Mazury Open
August 3-9, 2009
SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal No. 26 for
Brazil’s Juliana and Larissa was achieved at the US$
380,000 Mazury Open with victory over 26th-seed-
ed Australian qualifiers Becchara Palmer and Louise
Bawden.
Benjamin and Pedro completed a Brazilian sweep
by winning the men’s event with a 23-21, 21-16
gold medal victory in the 55-minute final over Julius
Brink and Jonas Reckermann of Germany, the reign-
ing SWATCH FIVB world champions. Each player
claimed their 10th SWATCH FIVB World Tour title
but their first championship crown together.
In the bronze medal match played before a packed
Hotel Anders centre court of more than 4,000 enthu-
siastic Polish fans, Adrian Gavira Collado and Pablo
Herrera of Spain placed on the SWATCH FIVB World
Tour podium for the third time this season by post-
ing a 22-24, 21-18 win in 63 minutes over Brazil’s
Alison and Harley.
