For the third straight time, Brazil defeated China for
a women’s SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal
as seventh-seeded Talita and Antonelli beat eighth-
seeded Jie Wang and Man Zuo in 37 minutes at the
US$ 380,000 China Shanghai Jinshan Open.
With their 21-17, 21-13 win Talita and Antonelli
shared the US$ 30,000 first-place prize as the Bra-
zilian women improved their gold medal record
against China to 9-3. In the bronze medal match the
Brazilian Salgado sisters (Carolina and Maria Clara)
defeated Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig of Germany
21-19, 21-19 in 42 minutes.
In the 60th SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal
match featuring two teams from Brazil, top men’s
seeds Harley and Alison scored a 21-14, 21-15 win
in 40 minutes over the second-seeded Pedro and
Cunha. Harley and Salgado had won the previous
two China Shanghai Jinshan Open gold medals to-
gether.
