The International Volleyball Federation
FIVB) has announced that Porto, Portugal
will host the 12
edition of the FIVB Beach
Volleyball U19 World Championships from
July 11 to 14. Porto replaces Larnaka, Cyprus
who withdrew following the financial
problems in the country. Porto joins a list of
experienced host cities for the FIVB Beach
Volleyball Age Group World Championships
this year with Umag, Croatia staging the
edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball
U21 World Championships from June 20
to 23 and Myslowice, Poland welcoming
the inaugural edition of the FIVB Beach
Volleyball U23 World Championships from
June 6 to 9.

participants to use their acquired knowledge
to further beach volleyball in their provinces.

VCP course in Kabul
Technical courses in Bahrain
A dozen teams took part in this year’s
Inter-School Beach Volleyball Tournament in
the Maldives for girls and boys in the U16
and U19 age categories. The event, hosted
by the Maldives Volleyball Association,
was attended by around 80 students
who took part in various development
training exercises and games. “The aim
of this festival was to train the kids to get
fit and to learn beach volleyball skills and
techniques,” said VAM Beach Volleyball
Commission Chairman Ali Ashraf.
Technical seminar courses for men and
women were held in Bahrain following a
joint strategy between the Bahrain Volleyball
Association and the FIVB. The purpose was
to improving local teachers' qualifications
in order to better develop volleyball in the
country. The technical course for women
was attended by 25 participants and was
led by Course Director, Yousif Al-Hilbawi.
