Super League
Kaleh Mazandarn
defended their title
at the Iran Super League with a 3-0 (27-
25, 32-30, 25-23)
victory over
Kaleh lost to Matin 3-1 (21-25,
25-21, 31-29, 25-23)
in a previous match
but pulled through to win the final. Twelve
teams competed for the title, playing 62
games at home and 62 away, followed by
additional matches in the playoffs. Kalek
Mazandam has qualified for the Asian Club
Championships that will be held in Tehran
from April 21 to 29.
The Cote d'Ivoire Federation concluded a
CAVB management course in Abidjan from
March 4 to 8 as part of the African Volleyball
Confederation Development Strategy. The
course was led by instructor Abdelhadi
Ghzali (Morocco) with 18 individuals, from
around Cote d’Ivoire, in attendance. “I'm
very happy with the performance of the
participants who showed a lot of skill and
capacity to manage, to conduct a team and
to establish vision and strategy,” said Ghzali.

The Argentina youth team underwent
an intensive training session supervised by
coach Julian Alvarez. Sixteen players took
part in the session, which ended on March
in preparation for the FIVB Boys’ U19
World Championship in Mexico this year.
It is the first training event of the season
where the World Championship is the main
goal. Argentina finished fourth in the 2007
edition of the competition. This year’s World
Championship will take place in Mexicali and
Tijuana from June 27 to July 7.

In March, the Polish Volleyball Federation
held a conference on the national Volleyball
School Centres programme, which
encourages children to be more physically
active. The heads of 127 schools and invited
guests, including Mrs Joanna Mucha,
Poland’s Minister of Sport and Tourism, were
present. The programme is an initiative of
the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the
Polish Volleyball Federation. A documentary
highlighted the cooperation between the
federation and participating schools
