entitled ‘Igniting Volleyball’, to generate
ideas on the format and performance
of volleyball as well as other issues
relating to the sport’s media presence
and its interaction with its audiences.
The discussion brought together FIVB
executives, representatives from the FIVB
TV and Marketing, Sports Events and the
Beach Volleyball departments and key

Puerto Rico clinched the last of the
four vacancies available to NORCECA
for the 2013 FIVB Women’s U20 World
Championship. At the U-20
held in Havana, Cuba the Puerto Rican
team defeated the home side in straight
sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-18) to conclude
as leader of Pool B. Puerto Rico joins the
Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United
States at the World Championships that will
be held from June 21 to 30 in Brno, Czech
Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia secured
the three CAVB vacancies for the World
Championship in the Czech Republic
after taking the top spots at the African
Women’s Junior Championship in Abuja,
Nigeria. It was a fifth consecutive African
Championship win for Egypt who took
the match after a straight sets (25-21, 25-
22, 25-11)
victory over Algeria. Egypt also
took the title in 2004, 2006, 2008 and
FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°
conducted a three day meeting in Japan
to consult with the Presidents of three of
the nations’ top broadcasters – Fuji TV, TBS
and NTV. The meetings were part of the
FIVB’s growth strategy to strengthen the
relationship between the organisation and
broadcasters. President Graça exchanged
ideas and philosophies with the television
dignitaries in an effort to firm up a volleyball
cooperation and investment strategy for the
purposes of promotion and legacy.

CSV Congress was held in
Maceió, Brazil with FIVB President Dr. Ary
S. Graça F° as a special guest. A total of 10
countries out of 12 were in attendance. The
Congress approved an Executive Committee
proposal on additional training for referees
and coaches and agreed the 2013 South
American volleyball and beach volleyball
calendar structure. CSV President Lloreda
also confirmed the CSV’s participation in the
South American Games with youth national

have qualified
for the 2013 FIVB Men’s Club World
Championship in October after winning
the 2013 Men’s CEV Volleyball Champions
League title at the V. Blinov Sports Complex
in Omsk, Russia. The home team qualified
for the Club World Championship after
edging out
Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo
of Italy
3-2 (22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 20-25, 16-14).
Vakifbank Istanbul
also claimed their
spot at the FIVB Women’s Club World
Championship after landing their second title
at the Women’s CEV Volleyball Champions
League with a perfect 12-0 record. The team
downed Rabita Baku in straight sets in the
gold medal match at Burhan Felek Voleybol
Salonu in Istanbul .
