FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° has
been appointed to the IOC’s 31 member
Sport for All Commission. The Commission
was created by the IOC in 1983 in response
to the growing public interest in sports
practice, health, fitness and physical activity.
Fellow FIVB and IOC member Rita
Subowo, was reappointed to the Sport for
All Commission and FIVB Executive Vice-
President and IOC member, Mr Habu Gumel,
was designated as a member of the IOC’s
Sport and Environment Commission.
The FIVB welcomed a beach volleyball
player delegation to its headquarters in
Lausanne, Switzerland to review and discuss
the organisation’s modernised global beach
volleyball strategy for the 2013-2016 period.

FIVB Women’s World Championship Organising Committee announced
The International Volleyball Federation
has issued an update to the FIVB Volleyball
Junior and Youth World Rankings for men
and women following the latest continental
events in 2012.
The FIVB Executive Committee decided
to publish an updated rankings for the
beginning of 2013 with a further update
to be provided once the five continental
events – the CEV Girls’ U18 and Boys’
U19 Championships and the CAVB U21
Men’s, U20 Women’s and U18 Girls’
Championships – are completed between
March 2 and April 21.

In February, FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça
F° met with Brazilian players for informal
discussions on the state of the sport of
volleyball in the country and globally. The
President first met with Olympic champions
Fabi, Fofão, Sheilla and Adenízia (pictured
here) in Rio de Janeiro. “We want to
contribute to help in the development of
volleyball. We brought ideas that we believe
are good for everyone,” said Fabi.
A week later the President met with
players Gustavo, Murilo, Serginho, Bruninho
and William Arjona. “We spoke a lot about
what can be improved, not only in the
Superleague but also for those of us who
play abroad. It was positive,” said the 2004
Olympic champion, Gustavo
Poland volleyball star Piotr Gruszka has
been named as ambassador for the FIVB
Beach Volleyball World Championships 2013
that will be held in Stare Jablonki in the prov-
ince of Mazury, from July 1 to 7.
In an interview with Polish commentator
Maciek Swiniarski, Gruszka showed a clear
appreciation for beach volleyball and the
movement and stamina of beach volleyball
players”. "The atmosphere during this tour-
nament is outstanding," he said. "I hope that
the weather will be good and that many vol-
leyball fans will come. It will be something
great," he enthused.

member Press Commission and Mr Peter

New Media Commission) reappointed to the
IOC’s Radio and Television Commission.
The role of the Commissions is to guide
the IOC and the Organising Committees for
the Olympic Games in their missions.
The delegation included nine players:
Hannes Brinkborg (SWE); Lauren Fendrick
USA); Daniel Hupfer (AUT); Janne Kongshavn
NOR); Todd Rogers (USA); Pedro Solberg
BRA); Maria Tsiartsiani (GRE); Marloes
Wesselink (NED); and Nadine Zumkehr (SUI).
The meeting followed an intensive four
month evaluation process of the FIVB’s new
beach volleyball philosophy starting with the
Beach Volleyball Commission in November
and two rounds of feedback between
the FIVB and national federations and
volleyball and beach volleyball
