Egyptian ref finds place among
refereeing elite
Egyptian referee Gama Abd Elnasser Mohamed was one of two
African referees to take charge of matches at the FIVB Beach
Volleyball World Championships Mazury 2013 and his rise to the top
level has been meteoric.
Along with Algeria’s Djamal Bergheul, he was the only representative
from Africa in what was only his second tournament as an
international referee. Following his first appearance at the Agadir
Open in 2011, after he passed the international referees assessment,
he was nominated as an international referee in 2012.

Dumbauskaite happy to keep
making history for Lithuania
Ieva Dumbauskaite and Monika Povilaityte have already done a fair
amount to put Lithuanian beach volleyball on the map with their
victory at the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships in
2012.
At the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Mazury 2013 they
continued their pioneering ways by becoming the first Lithuanian
team to represent their country at such a level.
It’s like a history event for us,” Dumbauskaite said. “We are the
first pair from Lithuania playing the World Championships. I am not
thinking about that yet, it will sink in after the event. I am proud that
I can be here.”
