The best beach volleyball players in the world will turn their full attention to a small town in the north-east of Poland in July.
Stare Jablonki hosts the
from July 1-7 and
looks ahead to a feast
of action on the sand.
Has it really been two years since Rome 2011? That glorious week
when Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego showed the wisdom of
pairing the wise old head of Brazilian beach volleyball with their
rising star by winning gold in spectacular fashion and when Juliana
Felisberta da Silva and Larissa França finally won a major international
title to go with their dominance of the FIVB World Tour.
Stare Jablonki has been handed the organisation of the tournament,
a reward for the way it has grown from an Open to a Grand Slam
to become one of the most vociferous, atmospheric and popular
stops on the World Tour. To host the occasion a new stadium has
been constructed especially for the occasion and will allow 9,000
spectators to roar on the players.
