Zonta and Gallay spurred on
by London experience
After making their Olympic debuts at London 2012 Ana Gallay
and Maria Zonta are hoping to use their experience of the Olympic
Games to help further their beach volleyball careers. The Argentine
pair have been in good form on the South American Tour and have
won gold in Chile, finished second in Uruguay and claimed bronze
in Paraguay and Peru. So far Gallay and Zonta have featured in three
FIVB World Tour events – twice in Brasilia and once in Sanya - and
now the next step is to feature more prominently on the FIVB Beach
Volleyball World Tour starting with the Corrientes Grand Slam in May
on home soil.

Salgado continuing to put
Honduras on the volleyball map
For the last 10 years Luis Salgado has been a pioneer for Honduras
after he became the first Honduran player to pursue a professional
volleyball career in Europe and now he has used that experience to
bring Honduras glory on the volleyball court. At this year’s Central
American Games he led his country to the gold medal in Costa Rica
and so impressive were his performances that he won the MVP
award. It was his country’s first gold medal in the tournament and
the level of his play improved as the tournament went on. In the
semifinal he scored 39 points as they eliminated Guatemala and he
topped that in the gold medal match with 40 points against the host
nation.
