Seyed relishing
Iran’s new challenge
Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Eraghi is his full name but his friends
know him simply as Seyed. The 25-year-old is one of the pillars of
the Iran national team who made history by qualifying for this year’s
FIVB World League for the first time. “If I was asked to choose
between the Olympics and World League, I would choose the latter
as it takes place every year and pits players against the best in the
world.” Julio Velasco’s men will compete in Pool B, opening their
campaign against Russia on June 7-9, and the challenge of taking
part in “the most specialised event in professional volleyball” is one
that Seyed is relishing – and not just for himself.
Iran’s entry into the World League is
something that could provide a great
boost for the growth and improvement
of our volleyball,” says Seyed
