The start of a new era for the FIVB and the start of what promises
to be a landmark year for volleyball. New tournaments, World
Championship qualifiers and new formats and teams for the World
League and World Grand Prix are set to revolutionise volleyball for
One of the highlights on the international volleyball court in 2013 will
be the qualification process across all five continents for the 2014 World
Championships, with the men’s Final Round due to be held in Poland and
the women’s in Italy. With NORCECA having already started preliminary
qualifiers in 2012, the race for the 23 vacancies to see who will join the host
countries will heat up this year before the final phase in 2014.
Italy, Russia, Turkey and Germany have been added to the 16 teams already
qualified to ensure all of the world’s top-10 ranked nations will participate
in this year’s World Grand Prix
