Brazil
crush Russia in one-sided final
Macau, China, July 31, 2005 - Brazil produced
some magic in Macau to win the FIVB Girls' U18
World Championship for the second time on
Sunday. The fired-up South Americans romped past
a strangely subdued Russia 3-0 (25-17, 25-14,
25-17) to claim the gold medal.
In addition to their team's success, 16-year-old
power spiker Natalia Pereira was named Most
Valuable Player.
Brazil's one-sided victory maintained the
country's incredible record in July 2005, and
follows their success in the men's World League
Final in Belgrade and the women's victory in the
World Grand Prix Final Round in Sendai, Japan.
