Women's World Cup 2003 - Press Conference

Press conference

U.S.A. beat Cuba 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-17) - duration 1:16
15-Nov, start time: 12:30, end time: 13:46 - Attendance: 2,127
CALDERON Blet Luis (Cuban head coach)
I knew that we were going to fight against top-level teams of the world in the World Cup, and we prepared ourselves for the event. However, we lacked concentration throughout the tournament. We were not prepared enough mentally.

RUIZ Lauces Yumilka (Cuban captain)
The USA squad is strong in blocking, defense, and serving. We were not able to respond them successfully and lost the match.

YOSHIDA Toshiaki (USA head coach)
My players did great job, they were on the edge, though. They were prevalent this afternoon. I would say thank you to my players for their excellent performance.

PHIPPS Prikeba (USA player)
I am happy with the win and our performance. We were very much disappointed after we were defeated by the Brazilian team last evening, but our head coach believes us and we have recovered our confidence. We have done everything, and hope to be qualified for the Olympics in Athens.
