Singapore, Singapore, August 25, 2010 - The first classification match for fifth place between DR Congo and Iran was an one-hour performamce which saw the Asian side come out on top with a 3-0 (9-25, 15-25, 17-25) win in the Toa Payoh Sports Hall, Singapore as the Youth Olympic Games began to reach their conclusion on Tuesday.
The first set saw DR Congo make many mistakes in reception and had difficulties in attack. Iran was the more organized team and Alireza Nasr Estefahni, scored nine points while Amiri Babak, earned 10 points for Iran.
In the second set DR Congo had a wake up call and was ready to fight and made some strong spikes and was suddenly directing the match with four points. The attacks from Salva Mbuyi Banza (seven points), didn’t frighten Iran who kept on playing well for the rest of the set and won 22-15.
The last set was more energetic and the play from both sides improved, showing the spectators some challenging plays. After the second technical time out at 13-18 to Iran, the game was over as Iran stormed to the win and fifth place at the first edition of the Games.
