"This is a wonderful result" - coach Natalia Malaga

Press interview after the bronz medal match with Japan and Peru on Wednesday
Singapore, Singapore August 25.
“I am very happy, I am going to celebrate for a long time this bronze medal with all my teammates.” These are the first words of the captain of Peru, Clarivett Yllescas, after the  great victory against Japan.
“At the beginning we were a little bit nervous, but step by step we improved and became more confident. Now we know that our place is among the best three nation in the world, and we have to keep on working to maintain this position.”

The coach of Peru, Natalia Malaga, said “I think this result is wonderful, because most of the girls here now won’t be part of the next Youth Olympic Games, so this was the first and last chance to win. This competition taught them how hard is to compete with different countries who have different way to play Volleyball.”

The coach of Japan didn’t fell disappointed about the loss: “ Peru was better than us, they had more intensity during the match and played better. I am proud of my players because they played their best.”

Anna Fukami, captain of Japan, said: “ I think we played well, but Peru was stronger than us. Up to now we have to work harder on our weaknesses.”
Peru was the first team ever awarded in these first Youth Olympic Games, but even Japan have to be glad of their performance.
