"No special wishes for the semifinals" says Belgian star van Hecke

Belgian captain Lise van Hecke: “We had a difficult start but as the match progressed we played better and better. We served very solidly and all in all played a good game. For the semifinals I do not have any special wish, both Serbia and Brazil are very good teams, we’ll have to play at our best to advance to the gold medal match and that’s it”.

Coach Julien van de Vyver: “We played three matches in Belgium against Turkey during our preparation for the World Championship and all of them were very tight and close. Today we played at a good level and we deserved this result. For the semis I also do not have any special wish, we’ll have to our job at our best”.

Turkey’s captain Kestirengoz: “We have some players who are sick, including the regular setter, and that does not simply affect our game but also the atmosphere in our team. Belgium served very well and our reception was poor, so we could not play our game as we wanted to”.

Coach Ismail Yengil: “We knew the Belgians had played five sets against Italy in a very demanding match but they were much stronger than us today and we were really not able to get into the game”.
