USA head coach James Stone: "It's the first time that we played hard all the match."

USA head coach James Stone: “I'm glad that we eventually won. It’s the first time that we played hard all the match. In some matches, we played well in the start and failed to maintain that form at the end. I think my girls played consistently. We served well in the fourth and fifth sets and that’s what counted for the win. Against Tunisia in the next match, we have to win again.”

Captain Carly Wopat: “We played hard today with a lot of fights. Everyone helped each other to improve our game. It’s great to win. I’m very happy with that.”

Slovakia head coach Marek Hencek: “I’m not happy with the way my girls played. They made many mistakes, individual mistakes in particular. The USA received well, while my girls could not stop fierce spikes from Haley (Eckerman). I think the USA is great on their attack. We next play Germany. If we happen to lose again, I think we will lose in three sets, but if we win, we probably win in five sets. I hope everyone will play better tomorrow.”

Captain Jaroslava Smatanikova: “I’m not satisfied with my team’s performance. It’s not good as we usually did in our training session.”
