German head coach Stefan Brauer is replete with the sensational straight-set win over USA

USA head coach James Stone: “We played poorly. After losing the first set, we fought hard in the second and third sets, but Germany played very well. I don’t want to say what specific mistakes my girls made. I think we try to get better and better in matches we play. Germany served exceptionally well. The third set was the worst for my side. I think it might be because there were changes of my players in the set to find the right formula of the game. Next, we will play Slovakia. I think we have to improve more on blocking and serving.”

Captain Carly Wopat: “We made too many mistakes, but I think we already played with the skills we had.”

Germany head coach Stefan Brauer: “It’s great to beat the USA in three sets. We just want to improve our performance, getting better and better each day. We played today much better than our match against Thailand in the preliminaries. We next take on Tunisia. We competed in a warm-up match against them before. I just hope that we can improve our level day by day.”

Captain Anna Hoja: “It’s the first time in the championship that we won in three sets. Although I’m the captain, but was not called up to play in the whole match, I’m still happy with it. If my team-mates do a good job, shouting at them for supports is enough for me. It’s quite okay.”
