"Looking forward to the match against Italy" says Belgian star van Hecke

Belgian captain Lise van Hecke: “It was very nice to play in such a packed competition hall and the atmosphere was very pleasant, I mean the Thai supporters were definitely fair. Now we’ll prepare for the match against Italy, I know they are longing for revenge after the European Championships but we also want to win. We have strong teams waiting for us, Italy and Turkey, and so we’ll take it step by step”.

Her coach Julien van de Vyver: “We played extremely well in the first set, with basically no mistakes; then the Thais improved the level of their play and put some pressure on us but we did our job in a good way. We wanted to win 3:0 and that’s what we did. The match against Italy will be a great challenge, I like teams seeking for revenge but we’ll do our best to double up our victory at the European Champs. Italy is one of the greatest countries in volleyball, so it is always an honor and pleasure to play them”.

Thai captain Sutadta Chuewulim: “Most of my mates are sick and got fever, so that’s why we did not perform that well”.

Coach Kulchim Sanong: “I was forced to use some back-up players, my girls are sick and very tired, but I hope they’ll recover for tomorrow”.
