Russian coach expects better days ahead

Russia's coach Sergei Shlyapnikov and captain Ivan Nikishin

Carlos Baos, Captain of Spain: “The match started as it should not have. The Russian block is definitely really strong, as well as the players. We shown that we can fight against them as we won a set, unfortunately we lost our concentration and that was a main problem for us”.

Ivan Nikishin, Captain of Russia: “This has been the most difficult match so far. Spain is a really strong team that is why we could not manage to face them during a set in particular. We made many mistakes where we should not have done it”.

Ricardo Maldonado, Coach of Spain: “We played a bit better than yesterday. The first set we unfortunately made big mistakes almost at the end of the set. I think we played pretty well today and we were able to play almost at the same level up to approximately the end of two sets.

Sergei Shlyapnikov, Coach of Russia: “We did not play well today. Spain has always been a real difficult opponent for Russia particularly in the senior’s category. We made a lot of mistakes and I think that we cannot go on like this if we want to win”.
