Poland better than the european champion

Celebrating the last point: Poland
France had won in five sets against Poland in the second round in Pool G. But when it came to the decision to place 11, the Poles turned the tables and sat down now, even in five sets (25-21, 20-25, 12-25, 25-19, 15-8). Poland, the fourth of the European Championship 2009, thus achieved a better place than the European champions France. At the World Championship two years ago, Poland had achieved fifth place, France was tenth.

The duel in the Palasport in Bassano del Grappa was a constant up and down. Three sets long, the French played well, made especially eleven block points with which they were able to stop the Polish attackers.

But then their forces in the region improved. The Polish team from coach Grzegorz Rys showed once again from his strongest side, and made hardly any mistakes.

In the last set they put to a flying start and led by 4-0 and 8-2. After a total running time of 93 minutes attacker Milosz Hebda turned the match point at 15-8.

Milosz Hebda was then also the best scorer for Poland with 24 points, 23 of which attack and one by block. For the French, Earvin Ngapeth scored the most points: 19 (15 attacks, two blocks, two aces.)
