France wins the tie-break thriller

Tiebreak-winners: French players
European champion France against Poland, the fourth of the European Championship this year. Now they met again in Palasport in Bassano del Grappa. The French are absolutely needed a win to avoid falling early out in the race for places nine to twelve.

But Poland began focused and strong, very next day after they had met before a 3-0 against Puerto Rico. About 8-7, 16-10 and 21-15, they polish player has earned a clear advantage. Of attack of 14 Polish players faced only nine of the French. Also on the block (3) and service (2) Poland was better. The 25-16 was the deserved reward.

In the second set of the dominance of Poland stopped. Again they were effective in attack (17-11), but France managed to keep more and more, however. Nor was the proposition lost by 21-25.

From set three, then turned the performane permanently. Poland made more errors (10-6) and was able to assert themselves in attack (11-13) less. Therefore, the French unit was now better. After 23 minutes the European Champions (25-22) had won his first set. For the last two points ensured Poland's attacker Mika Mateusz, who first hit out of bounds and then hit the antenna.

France was essential now to force the tiebreak, which succeeded after a quick lead with 11-7, 16-9 and 20-13 as well. With the 25-18 after 23 minutes they had reached the tie.

A service mistake by Szczurek (POL), an attack by Accambray (FRA), an error of Buchowski (POL) - and it was already 3-0 for the French. This lead extend it to 6-2 and 8-4. Poland was able to catch up after too many own mistakes, and the residue is no longer at 15-9, the French had the victory in their hand.
