India defeats hosts Italy

Italy went in front 8-5 with Fedrizzi and Preti scoring two points apiece. Three consecutive spikes by Ravikumar tied up for India, but Vettori responded with pair of kills and Preti blocked to regain the three-point advantage. Lanza and Preti provided two more spikes and the home boys led 16-11 at the second stop. Omveer and Vettori exchanged kills and the Sperandio and Gurjant. India came back with by Gurjant and kill by Omveer. India closed the difference to 20-18 with a block by Navjit. Vettori attacked from right side followed by Italian error. The attack of Vettori was long but Sperandio compensated for 23-20 in favor of Italy. Fedrizzi hit one for set-point and the attack of Omveer was long for a 25-21 Italy win.

India was in advantage 8-7 when Omveer broke a tie score. Then Fedrizzi scored consecutive spikes for an Italian lead at 13-12 and later Preti added one ace carrying his side to a 16-12 advantage. India capitalized three errors to take the lead 19-18 lead. Chiristopher scored with one ace and Pinelli responded with one for Italy. Ravikumar produced the point 23 for India with a spike and Omveer added the 24. Fedrizzi kept his side in the game but Ravikumar decided the set 25-23 for India with a potent attack.

Chiristopher scored with two kills and Navjit had one block to give India the 8-6 lead. It was again the blocking of Najit causing damage to the opposition as India took a three-point advantage at 12-9. The Indians continued their hot streak and expanded the difference to six points at the second technical stop taking advantage of many opponents’ errors. India won 25-19 the set in which Ravikumar had five points and Omveer added four and Vettori scored with six attacks for the local team.

The lefty Omveer broke a 7-7 tie with a kill from the right side shadowing a good performance by Lanza who scored 4 early points for Italy.  Behind the attacks of Chiristopher India moved to a three-point lead 15-12 and arrived to the second stop in front by score of 16-13. Chiristopher and Omveer continued with their hot streak scoring points 21 and 22 for India giving their side a five-point lead. Two more Indian blocks prepared the victory and the match was over 25-20 with another spike by Omveer.
