2007 FIVB Boys' Youth World Championship

Match Description

South American champions Brazil walkover against Germany

Brazil was too strong for Germany

Brazil walked over Germany in four sets 14-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-17 in 83 minutes with towering Aurelio Figuereido (204 cm) and Isac Santos (205 cm) as main atractions. But it was Germany who started the match surprising the South Americans by winning 8-1 and 16-8. The European team with Lukas Baker (200 cm) and Jonas Umlauft (206 cm) gave a very hard time to the boys from Brazil who looked lost in the court. Germans take the first one 25-14.

In the second set, Brazil had a positive reaction and gained the lead 8-6. “Yellow” team kept their advantage 16-10 and Germany could not stop it until the 25-12 partial victory. Mauricio Silva and Aurelio Figuereido again were the main factors for Brazilian success.

Germany with setter Felix Horn began to pull together in the third set, but Brazil was there whenever it was necessary and clinched the deciding points to lead 8-6 with the good work of captain Murilo. The second technical time out was 16-10 for the Brazilian that catches up the good moment of the second set until 25-20.

The fourth set was an easy one for Brazil that lead early 8-5 due to the good work of Mauricio and Tiago Wesz. Again the advantage of 16-10 until they reached match point without German resistant.
