MEXICALI, Mexico, August 22, 2007.- In a contest featuring two winless squads, USA crushed Egypt in consecutive sets 25-13, 25-15, 25-14.
American Kyle Friend was the only player with double-figures in scoring with 15 points and the USA team totalled 11 bloocks with Friend and Tri Bourne and Austin D'Amore recording three apiece. D'Amore was the second best scorer for the winning team with 9 points.
In the one-sided first set, the Americans were carried out to a 25-13 win by the spikes of seldom used Kyle Friend with 5 spikes and Tyler Jaynes with three spikes and one block.
The second set took the same route as the opening one. Friend contributed 4 spikes and two blocks while Dustin DŽAmore came from the bench and had three spikes and two blocks. The blocking of USA proved to be too much for the Egyptians.
It was more of the same in the third set with the high American wall growing up bigger and almost completely stopping the Egyptian team.
