Germany upsets Egypt in four sets 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 25-19)
 

Germany was the best on the court

Germany got it right this time and played an excellent game to score an upset victory 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 25-19) in 70 minutes over Egypt. The Europeans were strong in the first set and lead 8-5 and continue that way until the comfortable set point 24-16. Towering Jonas Unlauft (206 cm) gain the missing point 25-17.

Germany maintains the rhythm in the second set by winning the 16-10. Egypt Mohamed Ahmed pushed ahead to gain some points for the African side, but German Christian Fromm powerful spikes shaked the opponent defense. Germans won 25-17 the second set.

In the third set Germans were determined to win fast over a week Egyptian side, that only could defend in some points providing some serious blocking with Tarek Elboghdady, but German Felix Isaak emerged as the main spiker, until his team scored a 25-19 definitive victory.

It was the second triumph of Germany that have records 2-1 and makes it to the second round. The best scorer was Egypt Mohamed Ahmed with 19 points.
