“We knew it was not going to be easy” - U.S. coach Rodney Wilde

Singapore, Singapore, August 24, 2010 - Press Conference - USA v Japan

Japan captain Anna Fukami: “All our serves were good. We were quite intimidated by their height and it hindered our play."

Japan coach Norihito Uehara: “Our initial plan to compete against the U.S. was to focus on our serve. We did that quite well. Next time, we will work on our defense and speed.”

United States coach Rodney Wilde: “This was the exact type of match we expected. We knew that they were very good and that it was not going to be easy. They served well, and we hoped that our size would be enough, and it was.”

On the final against Belgium: “It is going to be a tough match-up again between two good and tall teams.”

U.S. captain Samantha Cash: “That was a great match. I enjoyed every second of it, except the points that we lost of course. It was exciting and intense, and we battled until the last point.

“I am very excited to play against Belgium again. I love a challenge, and they are an amazing team. They are going to want vengeance, and we want the title.”
