"We'll go for the medals" says Belgian star Lise van Hecke

Belgian captain Lise van Hecke: “I am absolutely excited that this is the first time ever a Belgian team qualifies for the semifinals at a World Championship. I think that if we continue playing at our best, we can have a shot at the medals and that would be definitely great for our country”.

Coach van de Vyver added: “It was a great match, played at a much higher level than the semifinal of the European Championships in Rotterdam. Since then both teams progressed significantly and I think that the fact that they were looking for revenge put them under an additional pressure and so that was at our advantage. Now we’ll go for the medals, for sure”.

Italian captain Letizia Camera: “We are very disappointed because we played with all our hearts and we wanted this revenge so badly after the European Championships. A few details decided the match in the tie-break, probably the reception was not that solid but also our attacks were too close to the net and the Belgians blocked regularly, so that’s it”.

Coach Maurizio Moretti: “We played a very good match but again we lacked of consistency as we did in all other matches at this World Championship. We’re going to honor this World Championship until the very end and search for that consistency we have been missing so far”.
