Russia clinch fourth win over Egypt

Despite a passionate display Egypt went down to Russia in straight sets in Cairo on Saturday
Cairo, Egypt, June 26, 2010 – Russia overcame Egypt 3-0 (25-14,25-12, 25-18) in their Pool C clash to remain top of the group despite a passionate home display in Cairo in Saturday’s final 2010 FIVB World League encounter.

Russia was the dominant side in blocking as they took advantage of a number of mistakes from the home side to leave Egypt with two wins.

Dimitry  Muserskiy  topped the scores with 13 points  while Ahmed Salah scored 12 for the home side.

Egypt began with a renewed enthusiasm in the first set but Russia quickly subdued any hope for the hosts, taking the lead early on.

Egypt suffered from many mistakes in their defense and reception before Maxim Mikhaylov saw out the set 25-17.

Egypt aimed to improve their reception in the second but their opponents succeeded with risky serves to take control before two aces from Muserskiy finished off the set 25-12.

Russia then stormed ahead in the third, and with Egypt barely let back into the match the visitors picked up the victory.
