France pick up first win of FIVB World League

Romain Vadeleux (left) finished top scorer for France as they beat China at home in La Reunion
Saint-Denis, La RĂ©union, France, June 18, 2010 - France picked up their first victory of their 2010 FIVB World League by beating China 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 27-25) in their Pool B match on Friday in La Reunion.

French spiker Antonin Rouzier did not start following an injury last week so Romain Vadeleux stepped out for the hosts and played the whole game, topping the scores.

France took the lead early in the first set but two blocks from Jiao Shuai saw China pull back. France coach Philippe Blain took a time-out and after a block from French Captain Oliver Kieffer they took the lead at the first TTO. France kept the advantage until the end of the set to finish 25-20.

France kept the lead with a huge gap in the second set, exciting local fans. Romain Vadeleux ended the set with his ninth spike of the match 25-18.

The third set was not the same story however, with France needing 27 points to see off the visitors 27-25.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday at 4pm GMT.
