Germany mark return to World League with win

The German block was a key in their victory over Poland on Saturday
Stuttgart, Germany, June 5, 2010 – Germany celebrated a great comeback in their opening 2010 FIVB World League encounter with Poland, beating the visitors 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22) in Stuttgart.

After an absence of seven years the side began their campaign with the victory led by Georg Grozer.

The home side started well however Poland dug deep to pick up the first set.

However Germany dominated from the second set with German setter Patrick Steuerwald and Grozer connecting well to see out the second and third set.

The German block was the difference in the fourth set and Grozer saw out the set and the win in front of jubilant home fans.

The two teams face each other again on Sunday at 1pm GMT in Stuttgart.
