Match Descriptive

Brazil beat Croatia 3-2 (25-16, 25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 15-12) - duration 1:55
13-Aug, start time: 10:00, end time: 11:55 - Attendance: 150
Croatia defeated for the first time
Both teams started off the first match in the seeding group determined to win. Although Brazilians turned out to be better and gained advantage at the very beginning, Croatians managed to catch up with them half way through the set. However, it did not take the Brazilian team too long to regain their advantage, which they maintained till the end of the first set. As a result Croatians lost the first set in this Championship. The failure appeared to have motivated the European champions, who, in set first part of the second set, played relatively better than their opponents. Yet their triumph did not last too long as the Brazilian players quickly took over the court and beat the European champions 25:18.
The third set was relatively balanced but slight advantage on Croatian side was sustained throughout the set and led to their victory in the third part of the game. In tie break, which was to decide about the result of the match, both teams gave us a spectacular performance and fought fiercely for the victory. After Brazilians gain two point advantage Croatians were no longer able to overpower their opponents and the match finished with a serve ace by Veronica Brito, no 3, from Brazil.
