The Thailand Volleyball in conjunction with the
Thailand Volleyball Association achieved the
FIVB development program called the “2001 National
Team Project”, under the great support of the
Petroleum Authority of Thailand since 1979.
Selected youth players, higher than 175cm, have been
trained and taken care of in Yala, a city in southern
part of Thailand, where they also received special
tuition for three years. With that type of hard work
Thailand now believes their under age group sides can
stand at the sides of the leading teams of Asia -
China, Korea and Japan.
Following the success of the previous years where
Thailand placed 3rd in the Asian
Youth Girls Volleyball Championship in Thailand last
year, the
association has launched another project known as the
“2004 National Team Project” supported by BEC
World since the end of 2001. This U18 Championship
tournament is expected to unveil all the rewards and
Thailand see it as their best chance to finish amongst
the medals for their best finish ever.
