United States beat Russia 3-2 (25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 20-25, 18-16) - duration 1:58
15-Aug, start time: 10:00, end time: 11:58 - Attendance: 360
Shelton Collier, head coach of the US team:

"What a great victory for USA volleyball! Russia had been training for a long time, and had many international matches in this past year. We had been together for only three weeks and were able to come here and win such an important match. Our players stayed very strongly mentally, and executed our game plan very well".

Sarah Florian, a captain of the USA:

"We really had something to prove as a team; we worked very hard, focused on the game plan, and came away with an awesome win".

Bryn Kehoe, libero of the American team:

"We were so ready mentally and tactically, we knew exactly what to expect and what to do. I am so proud of our team".

Mrs Nadejda Chelikhova, head coach of Russia:

"Congratulations to the Americans, they deserved a victory performing better than us. I think their setter (Angela McGinnis) led them to this success. My players could not break through with their spikes in the most significant moments of the tie-breaker".

Maria Borodakova, captain of the Russian team:

"For us this match was like a nightmare. We performed very poorly for the most of the game".
