First medal ever for Argentina in Youth Class

Gonzalo Quiroga (13) led Argentina in the victory

Ivan Nikishin, Captain of Russia: “Congratulations to the Argentinean team that got the bronze medal. Argentina is a real good opponent. They played really well in particular in the defence. It was a difficult match and I think we lost because some people made the game worse and worse and they did not let the teammates playing as they can do.”

Sebastian Sole, Captain of Argentina: “First of all I would like to give my congratulations to Russia. We have been working in the last two years and we are really proud as we managed to bring a medal back to our country.”

Sergei Shlyapnikov, Coach of Russia: “Congratulations to Argentina! I am very disappointed for the game my team played. As in the semi-final, our main problem was with the setter, we would have played way better with a setter like the Argentinean one.”

Fabian Muraco, Coach of Argentina: “It is the first time Argentina gets a medal in the Youth World Championship. Russia is a very good team to play against and it was not an easy match after the defeats of the last days. We managed to play a high-level match and I am really proud of my guys whom I have been working for the past few years.”
