India’s captain hopes of even better days

India's team making mental preparation for their match against Italy

Filippo Lanza, Captain of Italy: “I personally think it was a really beautiful match, we tried to give our best. They have shown really good technique and this created us many problems in some moments of the match”.

T.D. Ravikumar, Captain of India:  “Italy is a really good team. We played well today and I hope we will give our best even against the teams we will play against in the next days”.

Mario Barbiero, Coach of Italy: “First of all, I think we really started playing well this first match of the Second Preliminary Round. We started playing with good technique and we were focused on the match and on what we aimed at. We maintained our concentration up to half of the second set, it was a high-level competition then we started getting down while India went on playing with high-level technique. I am a bit sad as we lost but I am also very proud of my guys that are getting better and better”.

G.E. Sridharan, Coach of India: “I already knew the Italian team as I have seen them playing many times, as in Thailand where they qualified. It is a team that always comes up during the event. We wanted to win and we managed to play really well, in particular as regards to block and attack. I would like to with them good luck for their next matches and I know now that my team has to think about the next matches as other difficult matches are waiting for us. We are in a difficult pool, as we where during the First Preliminary Round therefore we have to focus immediately on the next matches”.
