Lanza happy about going to Jesolo

Coach Mario Barbiero instructing Italian players during a time-out

Filippo Lanza, Captain of Italy: “It was a good result and I am very happy about going to Jesolo. Even though we won the match, the other team was very competitive and fought hard. It was a good contest.”

Mario Barbiero, Coach of Italy: “The victory is a reward to the hard work done by these kids during the whole summer. Besides playing a good technical game in receiving and attacking, they also showed concentration and determination. They deserve this win and the chance to go to compete in Jesolo.”

Josue Rivera, Captain of Puerto Rico: “It was a good match but we made many mistakes in the important moments. I think that was the key of the match.”

Ariel Diaz, Coach of Puerto Rico: “The difference today was that we didn’t produce in the clutch situations. We allowed escape a three-point advantage in the third set and the team lost the concentration and it was not the same. Italy blocked well and played very organized. We didn’t play bad, but they were better than us.”
