Spain wins over Tunisia to take fifth place

Players of Spain enjoying victory over Tunisia

Spain built a comfortable 8-1 lead in the first set. They continued relying on effective serves and solid blocking and were in front 16-5 at the second pause. Lefthander Jorge Almansa and F. Ruiz led the Spaniards with 5 points apiece while Bruque scored with three aces. Spain won 25-15.

Tunisia reached the first pause leading 8-5 with Ben Othmen and Ben Abdallah as the main providers. Then Spain came back on the shoulders of strong spiker F. Ruiz to take the lead 16-11 at the second technical time-out. Bugallo contributed with four blocks during the set won by Spain also 25-15 with F. Ruiz collecting 6 points.

Tunisia led 8-4 carried out by Besbes and the blocking of Ayech. Spain recovered behind F. Ruiz and Almansa to lead 16-14 at the second pause. Tunisia, however, came back to take the third set 25-23. Ben Abdallah, Ben Othmen and Bresbes all had 5 points for Tunisia while Almansa and F. Ruiz each had seven points for Spain.

Spain had 8-6 and 16-10 advantages in the fourth set, with F. Ruiz collecting 9 more points en route to a match-high 27 points and the win 25-18. Spain took home the fifth place.
