Tunisia rely on serves to defeat Puerto Rico

Tunisians ready to start the action against Puerto Rico

Tunisia led 8-5 and 16-9 at the technical time-outs of the first set thanks to the solid blocking combined with shaky reception of Puerto Rico. Besbes and Agrebi led the offense of Tunisia with 5 and 4 points respectively. The African team recorded six aces and three blocks.

Puerto Rico took an 8-6 lead in the second set as Arcilla collected three points in the early going with two spikes and one ace. The Puerto Ricans scored four straight points coming out of the pause for a 12-6 advantage forcing a time-out of Tunisia. Morales then blocked and attacked for a 16-10 gap at the second technical stop. Several errors of Puerto Rico mixed with a Tunisian reaction led by Agrebi for a 17-17 tied score. Block by Lopez broke the tie and he also scored the last two points for the 25-22 win of Puerto Rico.

In a close start at the third set, Tunisia prevailed by a nose 8-7 despite the consistent attack of Puerto Rican Morales. Then it was the chance for Ben Othmen Mila and Besbes who sparked a strong offense of Tunisia good for a 16-11 lead. Tunisia maintained the margin the rest of the way for a 25-16 margin crowned by one ace of Ayech.

Tunisia enjoyed a strong start in the fourth set taking a 8-4 lead behind the serves of Siala and the attacks of Besbes. The Tunisians arrived to the second technical time-out by the hot hands of Ben Othmen Miladi and Besbes for a 16-8 comfortable advantage. When the game resumed Ben Abdallah scored with a superb block and Tunisia never looked back for a 25-14 victory.
